Warlord: Awaji is the second strategy title from Darkmatter Games and mixes large-scale planning with direct combat. Recruit samurai, improve their skills, expand your forces, and take control of villages, forts, and other key locations as the campaign unfolds across feudal Japan.

Rather than watching battles from above, Warlord: Awaji places you directly in the action. You can command your army, manage your camp, and make strategic decisions while also stepping into combat beside the warriors under your command. That first-person approach gives the strategy gameplay a more personal feel.

A Living Island Full of Danger

Awaji is presented as a large open world built from real heightmap data of the island. The setting also includes dozens of temples and shrines based on real locations, giving the environment a strong connection to historical Japan.

There is plenty happening while traveling between objectives. Civilian groups and roaming warrior bands move through the world in real time, so even a simple trip along the roads can turn into an unexpected encounter.
