The adventure starts at the Institute of Cybernetics, but it doesn’t stay within familiar surroundings for long. Andrey soon finds himself exploring twisted versions of known places, ancient ruins, and strange worlds that existed long before the ASPIS project was ever activated.

Explore the Institute and Uncover the Truth

Much of the story comes through exploration. Searching the environment for documents, audio records, and other clues helps piece together what happened during the experiment. OGAS terminals also play a part, offering another way to interact with the Institute’s systems and uncover information. Encounters with other characters and cinematic sequences fill in more of the story as Andrey ventures further into the unknown.

The pace changes as exploration leads to dangerous encounters. Some enemies can be dealt with using a Makarov pistol or close-range melee attacks at ASPIS, though ammunition and other supplies are scattered throughout the environment and need to be collected along the way.

The Guardian is a different kind of threat. Ordinary weapons won’t put an end to its pursuit, so survival depends on staying mobile, finding a way forward, and escaping its relentless attacks through the Institute’s corridors and rooms.

Use Energy X to Manipulate Reality

One of Andrey’s most useful tools is the PEP-01, a device designed to interact with Energy X. It can capture and transfer this energy, activate machinery, and alter the state of certain mechanisms. These abilities add a practical layer to exploration, giving players new ways to interact with the world around them.

The PEP-01 also lets Andrey create astral windows between different layers of reality. Through these openings, objects hidden or inaccessible in one version of the world can become visible and reachable from another. Figuring out how these shifting environments connect is essential for solving spatial puzzles and progressing through ASPIS.

Meet the Inhabitants of the Worlds Beyond

Andrey encounters more than hostile creatures during his journey. Other volunteers, the Institute’s Director, and mysterious beings all have their own connections to the worlds revealed by ASPIS. Some appear to understand these strange places far better than Andrey, but getting straight answers proves difficult.

Among the more unusual encounters is a talking Cat who seems well acquainted with ancient routes and the secrets behind the unfolding events. The Devil also appears in one of the worlds Andrey visits. Both encounters raise more questions than they answer, leaving important pieces of the mystery hidden.
