A Story Built Around the Squadron

Meet the pilots of Joker Flight along with the officers and survivors aboard the FCU Endurance. Together, they represent the final fighting force of a nation standing on the edge of collapse.

The campaign follows their journey as they return to the battlefield to reclaim their homeland. Along the way, the relationships between squad members grow stronger, giving the story a personal side alongside its large-scale aerial battles.

Multiplayer Takes Flight

ACE COMBAT ONLINE expands the series’ multiplayer experience with its first online lobby. Before joining a match, players can explore an air base using a custom avatar, adding a little more personality to the experience outside the cockpit.

Once airborne, pilots from around the world can join different online missions and game modes in ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE. Co-Op missions are available, along with cross-platform play, opening the door to larger battles and more ways to team up with other players.

Flight Controls and Difficulty

Each time the canopy loads, a flight control style can be selected. Standard mode offers a straightforward setup, with the left stick used to turn the aircraft left or right. It can feel familiar to players who have spent time with traditional first- or third-person games.

Rookie

Rookie mode puts the focus on following the war and its story without demanding as much from the player during combat. Additional settings can also reduce damage caused by collisions with the ground or structures, providing extra assistance when needed.

Pilot

Pilot is the default difficulty and is designed as a balanced option for most players. It is also recommended for anyone who is new to flying or returning after spending some time away from ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE.

Veteran

Veteran is aimed at pilots with plenty of experience behind them. Enemy aircraft can have more health or behave more aggressively depending on the mission in ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE. Missile lock-ons can also be more difficult to escape, while recovering from damage depends heavily on the aircraft’s loadout.

Elite

Elite raises the pressure considerably. Success can come down to split-second choices, careful target selection, and a strong understanding of the battlefield. Completing objectives while staying alive requires efficient decision-making and confident aircraft control.
