A Strange Mystery in Hidden Town

Something unsettling has happened in Hidden Town. People around the village have started talking about a mysterious girl seen standing at the window of an old house. The strange part? Nobody has lived there for 20 years.

That abandoned house becomes the setting for The Girl in the Window, the first point-and-click adventure from Dark Dome. It also serves as the opening chapter of the wider Hidden Town series, a collection of dark escape-room mysteries filled with secrets that gradually connect from one game to another.

The story puts Dan in the middle of the mystery. After entering the abandoned house out of curiosity, he soon discovers that getting back out won’t be so easy. Doors are locked, clues are hidden around the rooms, and several puzzles stand between him and freedom. Drawers need to be searched, codes have to be worked out, and useful objects can be collected or combined to progress.

The Girl in the Window also introduces two important characters from the Hidden Town universe: Dan and Mia. Their story becomes part of the larger mystery that unfolds throughout the series.

What Makes the Game Interesting

The house is packed with small details worth paying attention to. Objects can move on their own, strange characters appear, and clues are often tucked away where they are easy to overlook. Checking the surroundings carefully is a big part of solving each mystery.

The detective-style storyline keeps things moving without becoming overly complicated. There are plenty of secrets to uncover, along with a plot twist that gives the ending an extra surprise at The Girl in the Window.

The dark visual style works especially well with the setting. Combined with the eerie soundtrack, it creates a creepy atmosphere without relying heavily on sudden scares. That’s a nice touch for players who enjoy horror games but aren’t fans of constant jump scares.

There is also a built-in hint system. When a puzzle starts becoming frustrating, hints can point things in the right direction without completely taking away the challenge.

Puzzles, Exploration, and Gameplay

Playing is straightforward. Tap objects around the environment to inspect or interact with them, search for hidden items, and add useful discoveries to the inventory. Some items can also be combined to create something needed later in the story.

The puzzles are generally approachable, although a few can make you stop and think for a while. The vampire-related puzzle, in particular, stands out as one of the trickier moments. Most of The Girl in the Window is fairly easy to work through, making it a good choice for a short evening session rather than a long, demanding adventure.

The Girl in the Window is relatively short, but the compact length works in its favor. There is enough mystery and puzzle-solving to keep the experience entertaining without dragging things out.

A Good Starting Point for Hidden Town

The Dark Dome escape-room games don’t have to be played in a specific order. Each chapter has its own story, but connections between the games gradually reveal more about the mysteries surrounding Hidden Town.
