Build and Grow the Farm

In practice, there is quite a bit more going on. Eggstreme Farming lets the farm start with just a handful of chickens before gradually turning it into a much larger operation.

Chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys can all be purchased, with each species having its own type of pen and basic needs. Once a delivery arrives, the animals need to be unpacked and moved into the correct area. From there, the daily routine begins.

Fresh eggs can be collected using trays and taken to the vending machine for sale. There is also a machine that can gather eggs and place them onto a tray, which saves a little running around. As the number of birds increases and different types of eggs are produced, profits and XP start to climb as well.

Looking After the Birds

Keeping the animals healthy is another part of the job. Food and water containers need regular attention, and different feed qualities can be used to affect the birds’ health and productivity. Medicine and vaccines are also available when birds need extra care.

The medication system is a little questionable, though. Vaccinations are applied individually to each bird, and depending on the situation, it can seem more economical to sell a bird before it becomes sick and replace it with a new one rather than spend money treating it.

There are also shelves, furniture, and plants to buy, giving the farm some extra organization and making better use of the available space. New pens can be rented as the business grows, but expansion comes with additional running costs. Water, electricity, and internet bills all need to be paid, so simply buying more space isn’t always the smartest move.

A Constant Race Against Time

The main problem starts to show once the farm gets bigger. Eggstreme Farming can become seriously hectic, with constant trips between feeding the birds, filling water containers, cleaning pens, collecting eggs, preparing trays, and getting everything sold.

At first, this routine is pretty enjoyable. Eventually, though, it can turn into an endless cycle of trying to catch up. With nine pens already in use, keeping everything under control can feel like a full-time job. The egg collectors fill up, the pens need cleaning, stock runs low, and there never seems to be enough time to get everything back in order at Eggstreme Farming.

It gets to the point where the farm can feel almost impossible to keep running smoothly. Nights don’t really provide much of a break either, since the hours can be spent restocking everything before the next morning arrives.

Some form of hired farm help would make a big difference here. Tool upgrades could also help take some of the repetitive work away from the player. Without something like that, larger farms quickly become more stressful than satisfying.

Progression, Money, and Overall Feel

Daily tasks provide XP and encourage different parts of the farming routine, such as collecting eggs, selling trays, and taking care of the animals. Leveling up unlocks new licenses and allows the operation to grow further. There is also a day-and-night cycle, and Eggstreme Farming’s speed can be switched between normal and fast.
