There is no easy way to get things moving again. The answer is surprisingly simple: write code.

Code: Terraform is a deep automation and programming game built around real coding. Instead of clicking through menus or connecting blocks in a visual system, you write scripts in a programming language modeled after Python. Code: Terraform includes a full editor, console, documentation, and the tools needed to build increasingly complex systems.

Pretty much everything runs through code. Mining requires a script. Power grids follow programmed rules. Solar trackers use the clock to follow the sun. Rovers can survey locations and decide where to drill, while drone fleets follow routes written into their flight scripts.

The interesting part is that these systems keep running while planning continues. Set something up, let it work, then focus on the next problem.

Build an Industrial Network

The first steps are fairly grounded. Bring the base back online, calibrate sensors, activate solar generation, and learn how to turn raw instrument readings into useful information. Each machine and system becomes something that can be controlled through code.

From there, the operation starts to grow.

Water can be extracted from underground reserves, oil wells can be tapped, and geothermal vents can be capped to produce steam. Pipes carry fluids across the planet, while power lines connect separate sections of the grid. Backpressure needs to be balanced, especially when higher-tier machines require a steady flow to reach full production.

Infrastructure is built tile by tile. Pipes can cross roads and terrain using overpasses, power networks can be split into smaller subnets, and outposts can be positioned wherever the resources make sense.

Blueprints help plan everything before construction begins. Once the design is ready, a Pioneer equipped with a Constructor module can carry it out piece by piece.

Automate, Expand, and Get Paid

Rovers, Pioneers, drones, smelters, and other machines can all work together. A rover can survey distant locations, drill valuable deposits, and bring the resources back. The smelter processes the ore, while fabrication equipment turns refined materials into useful components.

There is plenty to manufacture, too. Pipe sections, machine frames, circuit panels, turbine rotors, cargo pods, thruster assemblies, and battery packs are all part of the production chain.

Earth also sends engineering contracts. These range from processing data and filtering datasets to solving more demanding technical problems. Completing contracts earns credits, and those credits can be spent on additional machines and equipment in Code: Terraform.

Orders can also unlock recipes and technology upgrades, giving the operation a reason to keep expanding. What begins with a small solar setup can eventually become a planet-wide industrial network.

Features of Code: Terraform:

  • There are no traditional cutscenes or cinematic sequences. The story comes through the same systems used to run the operation: mission briefings at Code: Terraform, sensor readings, encrypted messages, contract anomalies, and other pieces of information that appear while working.
  • That makes paying attention worthwhile. Details can matter, and the bigger picture gradually comes together without stopping the gameplay of Code: Terraform.
  • There is also very little hand-holding. Documentation and hints are available when needed, but there is no conventional tutorial walking through every step. The expectation is to experiment, read the information available, make mistakes, and work things out like an engineer dropped into a problem with limited instructions.
  • It can feel demanding at first, but once the automation starts clicking into place, watching a network of machines follow code written earlier becomes surprisingly satisfying.
