Enter the Office After Dark

Take on dangerous enemies, clearing departments, and facing off against bosses along the way. It is a fast, bloody, and deliberately silly action roguelike with an office twist.

Things have gone very wrong at the workplace. What was once a cheerful office has been consumed by a mysterious “toxic” force, turning ordinary employees into strange and dangerous creatures. Now the office needs someone to clean up the mess.

That someone is the Box Knight.

During the working week, there is nothing unusual about being an office employee. But once 5pm rolls around on Friday, the transformation begins. The Box Knight steps in as the protector of the office realm, taking down evil creatures, delivering beers, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks to colleagues who need them, and keeping the idea of office “culture” alive in a workplace that has completely lost its way.

The path to the top is split across floors and departments. Clear each area, push back the toxic infestation, and work toward the upper levels of the Office tower. At the end waits the CEO, ready for one final showdown. Defeat the boss and claim victory — or fall in battle and start the whole thing again next week.

Combat, Builds, and Different Runs

Combat is quick, responsive, and easy to understand, while still leaving plenty of room to improve. A range of weapons, special attacks, and brutal executions can be used to cut through enemies room by room. The basics are simple to pick up, but getting the most out of the combat takes practice.

No two runs play out exactly the same, either. The randomized dungeon-crawler setup keeps each attempt fresh, while stronger performance can lead to short-term upgrades during a run. Experiment with different combinations and find a build that fits the preferred approach.

Go all-in as an aggressive damage-focused brawler, or rely on speed, quick attacks, and getting out before the enemy can react. There is plenty of room to experiment.

Death also has a purpose. The Council of Janitors can help strengthen the Box Knight between attempts, allowing key stats and attributes to be upgraded permanently. Keep improving the character and eventually even the Drone Goblins might think twice before getting in the way. Every failed run can still leave something useful behind.

Weird, Bloody, and Surprisingly Funny

Box Knight goes for a bright and colorful art style that matches its ridiculous setting perfectly. The office is packed with bizarre enemies, exaggerated gore, silly executions, and plenty of strange details that make the whole world stand out.

The enemies themselves are twisted versions of familiar workplace personalities, giving the game a colorful lineup of creatures to fight. They are not just there to look funny, either. Different enemy types introduce a rock-paper-scissors-style element to combat, with each one bringing its own mix of abilities and threats.

That means the same approach will not always work. Enemy combinations can force the Box Knight to change tactics, switch up attacks, and think about how each encounter should be handled.
