Clean the Moon, One Brushstroke at a Time

There’s just one catch: the entire cleanup budget seems to have gone toward a single toothbrush. With a massive lunar surface to cover and barely any equipment to work with, the job starts out as a rather ridiculous challenge.

Every bit of lunar dust you collect can be sold for cash, giving you the funds needed to expand your operation. Start with basic tools, gradually improve your equipment, and work toward unlocking cleaning vehicles that can handle much larger areas. What begins as a painfully slow cleanup job can eventually turn into a well-equipped lunar business.

Team Up and Get to Work

Cleaning an entire Moon is a lot to ask of one person, so Moon Sweepers lets you join online co-op sessions with up to 16 players. Split up and cover separate areas to speed things along, or stick together and clear the same patch of ground. There’s certainly no shortage of work for the whole crew.

Of course, having 16 players on the server doesn’t necessarily mean all 16 will pull their weight. Some teamwork can make the job much easier, though the amount of actual work getting done may depend on who’s in your lobby.

Turn Lunar Dust Into Money

Collected dust needs to be stored, transported to a depot, and shipped out before the profits start rolling in. Once the money comes in, it can be reinvested in better cleaning equipment, larger storage capacity, and improved tools. These upgrades let you collect more dust per trip and spend less time running back and forth between work areas and delivery points at Moon Sweepers.

As the operation expands, you can position depots closer to your current worksite and bring cleaning vehicles into the process. Watching dirty lunar terrain gradually become spotless is satisfying, especially when the results of each pass are easy to see. The steady visual progress gives the otherwise simple task a nice sense of accomplishment.

Still, there’s something enjoyable about turning an underfunded lunar cleanup mission into a growing operation, especially with friends around to help. Just don’t spend too long standing around admiring the Moon. That dust isn’t going to clean itself, and there’s a whole lunar surface waiting for a good scrub.

Features of Moon Sweepers:

  • Steady Progression With Room for Improvement
  • Moon Sweepers gets off to a promising start, and unlocking new equipment provides a steady sense of progress. However, the upgrade system isn’t particularly demanding. It’s possible to skip certain tools and vehicles entirely, and it doesn’t take long to work toward purchasing the best vehicle and maxing out the available tool upgrades.
  • There are also a few limitations to the management side of Moon Sweepers.
  • Buildings cannot be upgraded, and dust processing is fairly straightforward, with only two refinement levels available. While these systems do their job, they leave less room for long-term development than the initial progression might suggest.
