Hello everyone,
to play the game, you first need to run the files “dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe” and “xnafx40_redist.msi”, which you can find after clicking through the folder “_CommonRedist”, to install the required programms.
After you did this, run the file “Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0.cmd”, which is located in “_CommonRedist\DotNet\4.0\”. Finally, you can run the .exe file in the main directory to start the game.

Just copy the folder with the old save files into the new game! 😉
It works also to transfer save files from PC to Android/iOS and viceversa!

I downloaded v1.3.36, the password worked and I installed DotNet and XNA. Now whenever I click “Stardew Valley.exe” nothing happens. I have Windows 8.1. It should work on Windows Vista or greater. Help.
Which version of DirectX do you have?
It should be at least 11, if I’m not wrong… Otherwise, it can’t work.
And, if your computer is Windows Vista, its version might be older… I don’t know if you’d be able to force-install a newer version of DirectX.
You should look for dxdiag to know which version is running.

It seems to be DirectX 10 the least version… But I don’t know if it applies to 1.4.4 as well, maybe it’s not updated…
If you have DirectX 10, try the older versions.
Hey, I was wondering. I have downloaded the 1.3.36 version. When the 1.4 version is release, how do I go about updating? Do I download the whole file off of here? and if so, do I delete the original game file? I have no idea
You might save your old game files, because they are located in a specific folder. Just drag&drop your old folder with save files to the new folder (or copy if you want backup).
This trick works to transfer save files from PC to Android/iOS and viceversa, maybe it works for updates as well!
