Build, Automate, and Expand

The setting feels unfamiliar at first, yet there is something oddly recognizable about it.

The main goal is to reach the Lighthouse and discover what lies behind its mystery. Getting there means starting with almost nothing and gradually turning basic materials into a growing industrial operation.

Gather sticks, stones, and other raw materials by hand, then move toward automated production as new technologies become available. Progress through different ages, starting with primitive tools before moving into the Bronze Age, the Industrial Era, and eventually the future.

The island itself can also grow. New biomes can be brought into existence, each providing different resources, secrets, and opportunities for expansion.

Turn Resources Into a Factory

Resource management sits at the heart of Nightwater. More than 20 different resources can be found across its various biomes, with each one having its own milestones and progression.

Early on, collecting materials manually is part of the process. Later, machines can take over. More than 60 different buildings are available, including farmers, assemblers, and storage facilities. Pipes can connect different parts of the production setup, allowing resources and crafting processes to run automatically.

Factories can be expanded as much as needed. Buildings can also be moved or dismantled whenever necessary without losing the items invested in them. Over time, every resource and its related crafting process can be automated.

There are more than 100 buildings, crafts, and buffs to unlock, including powerful late-game structures designed to increase production speed, improve efficiency, and help create much larger factories.

Minigames With Useful Rewards

Factory machines can keep working while attention shifts to one of five optional minigames. Each one has its own gameplay loop, items, upgrades, and progression system.

Completing these activities can unlock additional buildings, crafting options, and buffs that also provide benefits outside the minigames. They offer a different way to progress while the factory continues handling its regular workload.

The minigames are not required to finish the game, but they add another layer of variety and provide useful rewards along the way.

Features of Nightwater:

  • Discover What Nightwater Really Is
  • Beyond gathering and automation, Nightwater hides a deeper story. The narrative does not simply explain everything from the beginning. Clues, secrets, and small details need to be found and connected to understand what this strange reality actually represents.
  • Story content remains completely optional. Reaching the end does not require uncovering the mystery behind Nightwater or the Lighthouse. Those willing to search deeper, however, can find hidden areas and discover all four endings.
  • From simple sticks and stones to advanced machinery and future technology, the journey constantly opens up new possibilities. With different biomes, resource systems, factory automation, minigames, secrets, and a story that leaves plenty to uncover, Nightwater offers a lot more than its mysterious island initially suggests.
