Explore the Harsh World of Arrakis

Arrakis is far more than a backdrop in Dune: Awakening. From the busy streets of Arrakeen and the wide-open Deep Desert to hidden Fremen caves, every part of the planet has something waiting to be discovered.

The environment keeps things interesting, too. Massive sandstorms can tear across the landscape, while the blazing sun makes shade a valuable resource. Mountains can be climbed with the Shigawire hook, and once an ornithopter has been built, the skies offer an entirely different way to explore Arrakis. Even quieter moments, such as watching the sun drop over the desert, give the planet a surprising sense of atmosphere.

Of course, the sandworms are never far away. Traveling across the open desert means staying alert, finding safer routes, and knowing when it is better to get out of sight.

A New Dune Story to Uncover

Dune: Awakening combines open-world survival, adventure, RPG elements, and both single-player and multiplayer gameplay. The story places players in the middle of Arrakis after being selected by the Bene Gesserit for a mission: investigate the mysterious disappearance of the Fremen.

Along the way, familiar faces appear, including Duke Leto Atreides and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. Players can become involved with either the Atreides or Harkonnen side, explore their different stories, and uncover more about the secrets surrounding Arrakis.

There is also a bigger mystery at the heart of the campaign. The story explores an alternate version of the Dune universe built around a fascinating question: what if Paul Atreides had never been born?

That makes the journey more than simply a fight to stay alive. The deeper the exploration goes, the more pieces of the character’s own past begin to come together.

Survive, Fight, Build, and Craft

Arrakis does not make survival easy. Water is precious, the heat can be brutal, and the desert itself can become deadly in seconds. Players need to learn how the environment works, seek out shade, and even extract liquid from defeated enemies before refining it into usable water in Dune: Awakening.

Combat and abilities offer plenty of room for different playstyles. The Schools of the Imperium provide access to a range of weapons, tools, and abilities at Dune: Awakening. The Trooper focuses on heavy firepower, while the Bene Gesserit can use the Voice to control enemies. Mentat abilities bring deceptive traps into the mix, and the Swordmaster relies on a distinctive close-combat style.
