A Living Maritime World

Explore a huge open-world sea environment where conditions are never quite the same. Weather, traffic, waves, and changing sea states all have an effect on how each vessel handles. Large areas based on real geographic data include the Island of Rügen, covering 60 km × 120 km, and the Strait of Dover, which spans 140 km × 140 km.

The world is packed with realistic maritime details, including authentic seamarks, navigation lights, more than 40 harbors, active port areas, wildlife, and detailed coastlines. A tile-based map system is also designed with modding in mind, giving Professional Ship Simulator plenty of room to grow over time.

The water itself is fully dynamic. Gentle swells can turn into rough conditions, while strong storms can affect speed, stability, and maneuvering. Waves, crests, rolling movement, and impacts are all handled through physics-based simulation, making ship handling an important part of every trip.

Realistic Ship Handling and Systems

Face wind, currents, bank effect, propeller torque, anchor movement, and line tension. Instead of simplified arcade controls, operating a vessel requires attention to navigation, propulsion, and the conditions around you.

The simulation also covers a wide range of onboard equipment. Power generation and transmission are fully simulated, while navigation tools include Radar with AIS/CPA, sonar, and radio communication. Larger vessels can also be operated from wing control stations.

Things can go wrong, too. Hull damage and flooding are part of the simulation, along with realistic interactions involving mooring and towing equipment. Every maneuver has to account for the physical behavior of the vessel and its surroundings.

A complete day-and-night cycle adds another layer to operations. Optional real-time weather data can bring changing conditions into Professional Ship Simulator, while simulated storm fronts, wind, currents, fog, rain, snow, and rough seas can all influence navigation and handling. AI-controlled maritime traffic adds further activity, ranging from busy harbor operations to ships moving through open-water routes.

Build a Fleet and Take on Maritime Jobs

The career starts small and can grow into something much bigger. Tutorials provide a guided introduction, while structured missions let players earn credits, unlock licenses, and expand their fleet. The available vessels cover everything from compact service boats to large commercial ships.

There is also plenty of work to take on. Missions cover cargo transportation, ferry services, fishing with sonar, offshore logistics, tug assistance, buoy maintenance, rescue operations, and firefighting. Each activity relies on Professional Ship Simulator’s realistic ship systems, so careful maneuvering matters whether the job takes place in a structured mission or during free exploration.
