HAND OF FATE: HORDES is a dark-fantasy bullet heaven auto-shooter powered by your strategic deckbuilding mastery.

Survive the horde, forge your build, and unleash devastating attacks to escape a netherworld beyond the 13th Gate. Thrive in chaos! Beyond the 13th Gate, you are imprisoned within the Shadow Vaults where the banished Dealer devises your demise. Unravel his dark designs as you carve through endless hordes, deadly quests, and fearsome bosses to break free. Master four heroes – Trickster, Goblin, Warrior, and Rebel – each with distinct ranged, melee, and magic fighting styles. Outnumbered but never outplayed, build your deck to empower your heroes and twist the dungeon to your advantage, by the original indie designers of Hand of Fate: Hordes.
Starring Hand of Fate’s Anthony Skordi as the Dealer. This is a slightly different take on the bullet heaven formula, which can be off-putting for those looking for a power fantasy. Hordes is much more about survival, like Deep Rock Survivor, so you’ll often be working to stay alive rather than dominate. But when a build clicks and lets you overcome the odds, it’s a great feeling. Power-ups are mostly % based, with enchantments and blessings providing the real gameplay variety by changing how weapons function, granting new abilities, etc.
The standout highlight is the subquests sprinkled throughout each level, giving plenty of variety while surviving (similar to Megabonk, but with more variety and depth). As for the legacy of Hand of Fate: Hordes, it’s alive and well here. There are plenty of callbacks and the charm that’s a staple of the franchise. This isn’t a cash grab—it’s an honest effort to bring the series into the bullet heaven genre.
Whether that’s appealing is up to each player, but fans of Hand of Fate: Hordes and Vampire Survivors will likely find plenty to enjoy, even if there are still things worth critiquing. TL;DR: It’s closer in design to Deep Rock Survivor than Megabonk, but unlike the immensely disappointing Deep Rock Survivor, this one doesn’t leave you wanting a refund.
