In Full Stride, Feel the tension as the gates open, fight for position within the pack, decide when to make your move, and experience the thrill of a head-to-head battle down the final stretch. As a jockey, ride alongside your trusted horse and aim for victory in G1 races. Experience Unmatched Immersion from the Jockey’s Perspective: During races, you can experience the action through multiple dynamic camera angles, including the “Jockey Cam,” which brings you close to the viewpoint of a real jockey. Feel the movement of the horses ahead, the approaching corners, and the pressure of the pack as you make your own decisions and carve out a path to victory.

Positioning, Pace, and Timing Decide the Race: Speed alone is not enough to win. You must understand each horse’s running style, distance aptitude, stamina, and sprint ability, then judge the pace during the race and decide the right moment to make your move. Whether your horse can give everything in the final stretch depends on your ride. First of all, this doesn’t feel like a complete game as of yet. Full Stride itself is basically a big sandbox, and outside of certain horses you can own, every horse is basically just a randomised collection of names. Unlike the G1 Jockey line of games, there are no “owners” who give you feedback, or other jockeys to banter or rival you.

There is just picking a horse, racing it, and receiving in-game currency that can one day be used to buy a horse or power up your jockey. Also unlike G1 Jockey, until a horse is purchased there is no real motivation to get attached to any particular horse. Most of the undercard races have your random horse listed as the favourite, and then it’s never seen again. There’s no getting attached to a plucky underdog that overperformed, or giving an ageing horse one last big win. In the negotiation menu, it’s not even possible to choose a specific horse in a race; you simply click the race, then back out and in again to randomize your pick.

That aspect feels pretty hollow, and hopefully future changes can improve it. Another downside is the large number of small UI problems (such as inconsistent sound levels, where the music before and after races is loud even if the volume is set low), along with menus that can sometimes feel awkward to navigate. Each issue is minor on its own, but together they become quite annoying. All this being said, however, the basic gameplay of Full Stride is fun. It could even be argued that, in some aspects, the races are more enjoyable than those in the G1/Champion Jockey series.
