An Inn With a History Nobody Talks About

For fifty-one years, your great-aunt managed the Lantern Hollow Inn. The two meetings with her happened at funerals, so the inheritance comes as quite a surprise. Now the entire place belongs to you: eleven guest rooms, a spacious wraparound porch, and a green, cloth-covered register dating back to 1958.

One detail stands out when the old book is opened in Lantern Hollow. There’s a section for guests who have departed, but not a single name has been added since April 4, 1961.

Four Companions, Four Different Truths

Each romance route offers another explanation for the mysterious guest register. The stories take different directions, but none of them is simply a false lead. Every version reveals something real about the curse.

Wren Calloway, 32 — For nine years, Wren has looked after the inn in exchange for a room and an annual entry in the ledger every December. Midnight is her favorite time to bake because the kitchen is the one place where the house cannot listen. She also knows exactly who’s staying in room one.

Della Marsh, 41 — A county deputy, a widow, and someone who has little patience for superstition. Della simply prefers having a clear view of the entrance. Three people have disappeared, and she wants the register to bring them home — or finally give her a definite answer that they cannot return.

June Okonkwo-Pratt, 29 — A folklore PhD student and the only guest who actually pays for her room. She carries a cassette recorder and documents the people around her. June isn’t convinced the register is cursed. In her view, it’s keeping an account of something much bigger.

Tobe Renner, 36 — Responsible for the gutters, heating system, and a copper still hidden in the barn. Tobe is working off a debt left behind by his brother in room seven in Lantern Hollow. Leaving town has never been easy. After attempting it four hundred times, he’s even kept count.

The Final Choice

After three nights, every guest gathers on the staircase. A pen is placed in your hand, and the decision is finally yours.
