A Logistics Game Where Traffic Is the Real Challenge

Moving cargo sounds simple enough until the streets become packed with trucks. In Incremental Traffic, every delivery matters. Transport goods from farms, forests, and quarries through a procedurally generated town, collect payment for completed jobs, and use the earnings to expand the fleet. But there’s a catch: more trucks mean more traffic, and before long, the entire town can grind to a halt.

That’s where traffic management comes in. Instead of building new roads whenever things get crowded, Incremental Traffic challenges players to make better use of the streets already available. Traffic rules become the main way to keep deliveries moving, and a poorly managed intersection can quickly turn into a serious headache.

A Different Take on Transport and Traffic Management

The focus isn’t on building a huge road network or managing endless production chains. It’s about keeping freight moving efficiently with the roads and tools already at hand.

Make the most of existing roads.

The road layout is already in place, so there’s no complete freedom to redesign the town. Instead, traffic control is handled through road rules at Incremental Traffic. Set priority at intersections, decide which vehicles must stop, adjust traffic lights, add lanes, and place roundabouts wherever traffic needs a better flow.

Every vehicle belongs to your fleet.

There are no ordinary commuters, random traffic, or rush-hour surprises to deal with. Every vehicle on the road is one of the trucks assigned to a route. This makes traffic problems easier to understand, even when the streets are completely jammed. When something goes wrong, there’s always a reason behind it, and the solution comes down to better planning.

Deliveries matter more than production.

Production chains stay relatively simple and easy to follow. Basic shapes are pressed, combined, and turned into more advanced products. The real difficulty begins when those goods need to reach their destinations. Even a factory with eight loading bays won’t help much when the road outside has become one giant parking space in Incremental Traffic.

Expansion brings new traffic problems.

Upgrading factories increases their production speed, which naturally creates demand for additional trucks. More deliveries mean more vehicles on the streets, and that’s when things can get messy. Interestingly, the better the business performs, the more pressure it puts on the town’s traffic system. Keep things moving, make more money, expand the fleet, and prepare for an even bigger traffic challenge.

Towns Built Around Their Own Economies

Each valley town is procedurally generated according to its individual economy. This means road activity isn’t distributed randomly. The busiest streets are generally the ones carrying the most freight at Incremental Traffic, while delivery routes overlap and intersect in ways that create interesting traffic situations. Bypasses also appear in places where they can make a real difference to transportation.

The town doesn’t stay small forever, either. It begins as a modest settlement and gradually expands as more goods move through the area. New districts appear as demand increases, shifting traffic pressure to different parts of the map. Residential areas develop around the growing transport network, eventually filling the skyline with apartment buildings and high-rises.
