FluxWerks puts the factory directly into a fully destructible voxel planet where every block has a purpose. Nothing is simply there for decoration.

A Planet That Actually Matters

Terrain can become a resource, an obstacle, or even a serious problem once fluids and heat get involved.

Mountains can be stripped away with excavators, underground bunkers can be carved directly into solid rock, and platforms can stretch across the ocean with tunnels running underneath. Dig beneath a lake, though, and the water will find its way into the space you’ve just created at FluxWerks.

The same goes for heat. Temperature travels between blocks, while rain, blizzards, sandstorms, and lightning gradually damage machinery left exposed. Building a factory here means thinking about the environment just as much as production.

The Planet Was Supposed to Be Empty

The original scan showed a temperate world with breathable air and no signs of habitation. As the preparation unit, the job is to get an industrial operation running, investigate the planet in FluxWerks, and send what is discovered back home.

The problem is that distant scans don’t reveal everything.

As exploration moves deeper into the planet, it becomes clear that this supposedly empty world has more going on beneath the surface at FluxWerks. Deserts, jungles, tundra, volcanic regions, cave networks, and scattered points of interest provide plenty of reasons to keep exploring. Ore can even be detected through solid rock, making the scanning system useful when planning where to expand next.

Build, Automate, and Manage the Environment

The factory-building side offers plenty of room to grow. Belts, inserters, and pipes can be combined into dense production lines, while cargo drones handle longer-distance transportation. Once a section works properly, it can be saved as a blueprint and reproduced elsewhere.

A nanobot swarm acts as the main way to interact with the world. Point it toward terrain to clear an area, use it to harvest resources, or direct it toward a blueprint and let it construct the planned section.

Fluid systems add another layer of unpredictability. Water, oil, lava, and acid move through the terrain and react with their surroundings. Water meeting lava creates obsidian, while water reaching sufficiently hot ground can boil away. Volcanoes can erupt naturally, sending lava through whatever happens to be in its path.

Heat also needs proper handling. Machines generate waste heat that spreads through nearby blocks instead of simply disappearing. That makes factory placement important. Heat can be moved away through piping or potentially converted back into useful power.

Pollution has consequences too. There are no enemy factions to fight, but the planet still reacts to what happens on its surface. Push pollution far enough and something dormant beneath the soil may wake up.

From the First Furnace to Huge Industrial Systems

Research takes the factory through several technological stages, starting with basic furnaces before moving toward industrial chemistry and advanced electronics. Each new era demands a larger and more capable production setup, while the machines unlocked along the way can change how the factory itself is designed.

Features of FluxWerks:

  • Computing becomes another resource to manage at higher levels. Advanced machinery relies on a shared computing reserve generated by computer clusters.
  • Running short on computing power slows the factory down, but those computers also consume electricity and produce heat. That turns the data-center side of the operation into another production problem rather than a simple upgrade screen.
  • Scale is clearly a major part of FluxWerks. Large factories can keep operating while heat and fluid systems continue to run across the wider map.
  • The world can be explored freely without stopping production, making it possible to leave a busy industrial complex behind while scouting somewhere new.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit
  • Processor: Quad-core processor (e.g., Intel Core i5 / AMD Ryzen 5)
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB / AMD Radeon RX 580
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Storage: 1 GB available space
