Gameplay and Setting

From there, the goal is to establish and expand a base, recruit heroes and soldiers, collect resources, push into enemy territory, and eventually defeat the alien invaders while taking control of the world.

Death row inmates on the run 2–The Resistance uses the mouse for essentially everything. Its gameplay is split between two main areas: a combat-focused shooting system and a strategy section where base management, recruitment, reconnaissance, and territorial decisions take place.

The opening stages feel fairly forgiving, almost like an extended introduction. The difficulty rises noticeably after the first few areas, so Death row inmates on the run 2–The Resistance becomes much less relaxed as progress continues.

Base Management and Territory Control

Clicking on territories under your control opens up several options. Soldiers can be recruited, security can be improved, and troop morale can be raised. There is also a darker route where soldiers can be ordered to loot and sexually assault people in occupied areas. Choosing these actions increases money and morale, but security drops and notoriety rises. These decisions can be made without ending the current turn.

Each territory also unlocks its own special room. This gives some freedom when deciding where to attack next, since different locations can fit different approaches and playstyles.

Death row inmates on the run 2–The Resistance also features a reputation system. Liberating territories and making positive choices increases reputation, while taking more harmful actions raises notoriety. Building a higher reputation also opens up access to additional soldiers.

Reconnaissance and Combat Preparation

Enemy territory can be scouted by sending female characters on reconnaissance missions. The scouting section works like a simple red-light, green-light minigame. Holding the left mouse button lets the character look over the barricade, but once the exclamation mark begins shaking, the button needs to be released so the character can hide.

The objective is to fill the meter to 100%. Miri is especially useful here because she has a guaranteed escape if the minigame goes wrong. Other female characters can be arrested when they fail the reconnaissance sequence.

After returning to the base, the Countermeasure Room can be used to create an invasion plan. Once the plan is ready, the selected characters can be sent out to attack. Reconnaissance and invasion planning do not require the turn to end, although characters assigned to these tasks cannot be used for other activities during that turn.
