RetroSpace mixes retro-futurism, cosmic horror, dark comedy, exploration, & plenty of strange ’70s-style flair into one very unusual space adventure.

A Disco-Punk Nightmare in Space
Imagine being stuck on a massive space station that has been swallowed by a living black hole. Strange creatures are roaming the halls, time is behaving badly, and survival can mean anything from quietly sneaking past trouble to charging into a fight as a heavily mutated action hero.
Expect bizarre creatures, unpredictable mutations, shifting timelines, and, yes, some excellent mustaches.

Explore, Experiment, Survive
Aurora 5 isn’t built like a straightforward corridor shooter. The enormous station connects different areas through shortcuts, secret passages, and alternate routes that gradually become accessible as exploration continues.
A central HUB provides a relatively calm place to return to when the surrounding madness becomes too much. From there, the station opens back up into a maze of discoveries, dangers, and previously unreachable locations.
Survival also depends heavily on understanding what’s happening around the station. Different enemies have their own behaviours, abilities, and weaknesses, so simply running in with weapons blazing isn’t always the smartest approach at RetroSpace.
Mutamods, Cloning, and the Cost of Dying
Mutamods™ add another layer of experimentation. These strange upgrades can improve abilities related to stealth, combat, movement, and exploration, while also opening the door to some truly bizarre transformations.
Want extra limbs, mind-control abilities, or a shadowy mutant form? That’s possible. But these upgrades can also bring unexpected and potentially irreversible side effects in RetroSpace, so every mutation comes with a price.
Death works differently here, too. Aurora 5 can create an unlimited supply of clones, meaning dying doesn’t necessarily bring the adventure to an end. However, resurrection has its own complications.
Repeated cloning can cause serious degeneration, and recovering equipment from a previous version of the character becomes part of the process. Each death can therefore create another problem to solve rather than simply resetting the game.
The Story Behind RetroSpace
The year is 2177, and humanity is running out of options. The AURORA fleet, made up of enormous floating space stations, has been sent into deep space in search of a new home.
The journey is expected to last a century. While humans remain asleep, robots, androids, and specially selected janitors are left behind to keep the ships running and protect the sleeping population.
Then something goes terribly wrong.
One of the giant city-ships is knocked from its intended course and pulled into a black hole. Instead of reaching its destination, the station is left drifting through an endless void.
Things only get stranger from there. Mutants begin spreading through the corridors, while the entire station starts jumping between two different periods in time.
Somewhere inside the chaos, a nameless janitor is left searching for answers and, more importantly, a way out.
The way home won’t be simple. Escaping means dealing with the endless loop, the hostile creatures, the strange effects of the black hole, and the cosmic madness surrounding Aurora 5.
RetroSpace is designed as a modern love letter to classic immersive games, while adding its own blend of disco-punk style, space horror, dark humour, mutations, cloning, and unpredictable consequences.
In space, nobody can hear you groove.
