A Living Three Kingdoms World
The world is presented through three interconnected layers: the strategic world map, detailed city screens, and smaller local scenes. Each level adds something different, from planning territorial campaigns and moving armies to exploring city life and witnessing personal events.
Cities are more than simple locations on a map. Their architecture, activities, and management systems help create a world that feels active beyond the battlefield in Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms. Local scenes then bring the experience closer, showing individual events and everyday moments that happen away from large-scale warfare in Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms.
The historical setting also covers a remarkably broad stretch of time. More than 20 starting scenarios are available, beginning with major events such as the Yellow Turban Rebellion and continuing through later conflicts including the Battle of Xiling.
Across these scenarios, more than 1,300 historical officers appear, supported by over 2,000 animated full-body portraits. Custom officers can be created before starting a campaign, while procedurally generated characters continue appearing throughout the world as the story develops.
Battles, Builds, and Different Ways to Play
Combat is divided into three main systems: Legion Battles, Combat, and Debates. Each one requires a different approach, giving officers plenty of room to develop their own strengths.
Legion Battles use real-time strategy mechanics. Armies must destroy opposing forces while taking control of important enemy structures. More than 100 battle maps are spread across five categories: Field Battles, Siege Battles, County Battles, Naval Battles, and Pass Battles.
Regular Combat and Debates use turn-based card-based mechanics. Officer development revolves around three attributes: Command Spirit, Martial Spirit, and Mind Spirit. Building up Three Spirit Points unlocks access to different spirits and skills, allowing thousands of combinations when creating an officer build.
Rewrite the History of the Three Kingdoms
Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms contains more than 2 million words of historical events, covering nearly a century of the era from the Yellow Turban Rebellion through the fall of Eastern Wu. Throughout Early Access, the historical content has continued to expand, bringing both famous episodes and lesser-known stories into Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms.
More than a hundred scenarios recreate major battles and turning points while allowing the same event to be experienced from different characters’ perspectives. The Battle of Chibi, for example, can be approached as Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Quan, Zhuge Liang, Zhou Yu, or an officer serving under one of these figures.

Features of Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms:
- The role chosen at the beginning can also completely change how Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms feels.
- Ruler: Take control of every city within the faction or assign Governors to handle individual territories. City administration can improve economic stability, while extra funds can be invested in armies, troop recruitment, technology, or special strategies designed to strengthen the faction.
- Officer: Serve a faction, perform well in regular assessments, and build enough merit and influence to receive an appointment as a Governor. Continued success can eventually lead to the position of Viceroy, placing an entire region under command.
- Free Officer: A more independent route is available for characters who do not want to remain tied to one faction. Trade convoys and estates can generate wealth, while Private Barracks allow private troops to be recruited and developed. Mercenary Agreements can then provide opportunities to fight alongside different factions at Heroes’ Vow: Three Kingdoms.
