Dog in the Machine is a tactical roguelite about an AutoDog trying to escape a dystopian mecha-city and find its way back to the humans.

Build a Trick Set That Fits the Run
Between battles, the AutoDog can pick up new Tricks and gradually turn them into more advanced abilities. Two Tricks can be combined to create something more complex, giving plenty of room to experiment with different combinations.
Blueprints are available for players who want some direction, but making custom combinations is where things get more interesting. By the end of a run, the Trick Library can look completely different depending on the choices made along the way, with each build leaning into its own set of synergies.

Dog in the Machine also throws a cast of oddball characters into the mix. They offer different deck-building options and help reveal more about the strange machine-city surrounding the AutoDog. Tricks can be bought, traded, looted, upgraded, or even stolen, so almost every stop between fights can change the build.
Tactical Battles With Plenty Going On
Battles take place on small grids packed with interactive objects, enemy guardians, hazards, and other elements that can be used to turn the battlefield against the robots. Conveyors, buttons, explosive obstacles, reactive enemies, and collision-based effects all work together to create opportunities for some seriously satisfying chain reactions.
Each encounter feels less like a routine fight and more like a puzzle waiting to be solved. A good sequence can send enemies crashing into one another, trigger several effects at once, and clear out entire groups in one spectacular move.
Plan Moves Without the Usual Roguelite Stress
The real-time preview system makes experimentation much easier. Before committing to a sequence, Dog in the Machine shows how the planned actions are expected to play out. That makes it possible to test an idea, cancel it, make adjustments, and try again without being punished for every small mistake.
The focus stays on finding a clever solution rather than dealing with frustrating misclicks or accidental moves. When a run goes wrong, the strategy itself is usually the thing that needs another look.
There are also eight different dog breeds to play, along with an effectively endless supply of procedurally generated levels. Permanent upgrades and new features can be unlocked between runs, while higher difficulty levels provide another reason to keep experimenting.

Features of Dog in the Machine:
- Turn the Battlefield Into a Chain Reaction
- Every arena is designed around Dog in the Machine’s domino-effect mechanics. Enemies and objects react to one another, while environmental elements can completely change how a battle unfolds.
- That reactive design keeps encounters from becoming repetitive. Instead of simply attacking whatever is closest, it pays to look at the whole grid and figure out how one action can set off the next.
- With modular attacks, customizable Tricks, interactive environments, and plenty of different combinations to discover, Dog in the Machine has a fun balance between careful planning and chaotic payoffs in Dog in the Machine. The best moments come when a carefully arranged sequence finally clicks and a whole crowd of robots gets wiped out in one go.
