Breakout Garage is an open-world driving and racing simulator created by two indie developers, set in small-town Texas, USA.

An Open-World Racing Game With Realistic Car Building
Breakout Garage focuses heavily on building and modifying older American cars, giving players plenty of freedom to put together a setup that matches their preferred driving style.
Cars can be built from the ground up using different parts and combinations, with each change affecting how the vehicle behaves. Once a build is ready, it can be taken into street drag races, official drag events, oval races, drift events, time trials, endurance races, and other driving challenges.

The physics system is designed with simulation in mind, while optional driving aids such as traction control, ABS, and electronic stability control can be switched on or off depending on how much assistance is wanted.
Building, Tuning, and Looking After Cars
The car-building system goes well beyond simply changing horsepower. Weight, aerodynamics, center of mass, engine compression, displacement, inertia, and many other factors can influence the way a car drives. Engine thermodynamics and airflow are also simulated, adding another layer to tuning.
Engine tuning includes adjustments such as air-to-fuel ratio and ignition timing, with settings influenced by factors like compression, boost, and fuel octane. Engine swaps are also available, opening up more possibilities when putting together a custom build.
Cars don’t stay perfect forever, either. Parts gradually wear with use and eventually need repairs or replacement. Certain mechanical problems can even be heard through specific sounds, including lifter tick, rod knock, and worn suspension components.
The tire and wheel system allows three different fitment styles: stretched, straight, and meaty tires. Cosmetic wear is also part of the experience, with faded paint, edge rust, and patina giving older cars a more used appearance. Decals can be added to the interior and windows, while more than 14 real-world aftermarket brands are represented in Breakout Garage.
A used-car dealer provides randomly generated vehicles to browse through, inspect, and purchase. Cars can then be restored and sold for a profit, making the used-car market another part of the gameplay loop of Breakout Garage.
Racing, Multiplayer, and Life Around the Map
Drag racing includes accurate 1/4-mile and 1/8-mile distances, with both prep and no-prep events. Players can choose between standard and pro trees, with leaderboards tracking performance.
For multiplayer, Breakout Garage uses peer-to-peer hosting. Players can host or join servers and use the in-server race lobby to challenge other drivers. Wheel and shifter setups are supported as well.
What’s Planned for the Future
The map is still set to receive more detail as development continues. Planned career content is also much broader, with deliveries, drag racing, drift events, oval racing, and dirt racing all expected to become part of the career experience.
Future updates are planned to bring additional cars and engines, along with more customization options for individual vehicles. Junkyards, extra dealerships, and more shops are also on the roadmap, giving the open world more places to explore and more ways to find, build, and work on cars.

Features of Breakout Garage:
- There is also a first-person mechanic mode for working on cars, along with a photo mode for capturing and sharing in-game moments.
- Outside of racing, the game features a simple economy and delivery system. Random delivery jobs offer different payouts depending on the load, distance, and required delivery time.
- A basic police and pursuit system is included too, with special police maneuvers becoming available depending on the current wanted level.
- An in-game wiki provides information about Breakout Garage’s content and also helps explain real-world mechanical concepts. There’s even a simple damage system to go along with the wear and tear mechanics.
