What kind of game is Taste of the Wind?

The story begins with a childhood spent helping out at the family restaurant. Money was never plentiful, but life was simple and carefree. Everything changed when the restaurant was framed for something it didn’t do, followed by the tragic deaths of the protagonist’s parents.

With no family business left to rely on, various jobs become the only way to get by. It seems like this difficult routine might last forever. Then, out of nowhere, a childhood friend who has been gone for years returns. There is just one small problem: along with the reunion comes a massive one-million debt.

Suddenly, everything changes.

The once-quiet Taste of the Wind has a chance to start over, but the problems from the past are still waiting in the background. Rebuilding the restaurant means carrying plenty of responsibility, yet it also creates a chance to finally find out what happened to the family.

Running the restaurant

As the owner, restaurant management is at the heart of Taste of the Wind. Plenty of decisions have to be made from month to month.

The menu can be changed, individual dish prices can be adjusted, and money can be put toward renovating or expanding the restaurant. There are also choices about how customers are treated and how much is spent on employees. Better training and working conditions cost money, while cutting expenses can improve short-term profits.

Want to invest heavily in staff training? Go for it. Prefer to pay employees only 2,000 per month while putting them through 90-hour work weeks? That option is available too.

Taste of the Wind gives plenty of room to experiment, but there is one rule that cannot be ignored: stay financially afloat. If cash flow remains negative for two consecutive months, the result is the bankruptcy bad ending. Not exactly the ideal outcome. :)

Relationships, learning, and everyday life in Stone Town

Taste of the Wind introduces a varied cast, including the childhood friend who helped bring the family restaurant back, an old companion known for getting into trouble, and a mysterious girl with a fiery personality. Spending time with these characters reveals more about their backgrounds and can lead to some genuinely enjoyable moments.
