Strip mahjong is a one-on-one mahjong game where every loss means the heroine removes another piece of clothing.

The genre became a major part of Japanese arcade culture from the 1980s into the early 2000s. Arcade cabinets weren’t limited to traditional game centers, either. They could be found in shopping centers, hotels, and even on ferries.

At the center of that boom was the Super Real Mahjong series, which first appeared in 1987.
