Pick your favorite Spirit Cards and combine them with a myriad of different abilities, bonuses and status effects to create powerful builds and decimate your opponents. Equip Mod Cards to enhance and modify your Weapon Cards — edit, experiment, adapt, and reformulate your hand and card combinations as you go and refine your personal playstyle! Accompanied by the Roman poet Virgil and protected by the sanctified Beatrice, you must rescue and befriend the Poets of Limbo to unlock new abilities and perks, ultimate attacks and signature weapons! Meet all the legendary poets of antiquity including but not limited to Homer, Ovid, Horace and Lucan, and help them find their own way to salvation in Hell Maiden.

Dante is now inexplicably back in Hell after having reached Paradiso — and she’s lost all her memories to boot! Unable to remember anything about her past life or her first journey through Hell, Dante is determined to climb her way back to Heaven and once again come face to face with Paradiso’s higher powers in search for answers. When gameplay for Hell Maiden was first shown, there was a bit of apprehension since bullet heaven games aren’t usually appealing.

What sets Hell Maiden apart is its presentation. In particular, the gorgeous artwork in cutscenes and other assets, the solid voice acting, story, and characterization in a genre that usually lacks those elements altogether, and the emotionally packed music accompanying the journey through hell. All of these elevate what would otherwise be a generic and forgettable experience. The art style of Hell Maiden is perfect and makes it easy to just sit and admire every card. The characters are cute and well designed, the gameplay is genuinely fun, and there’s a satisfying amount of progression through upgrades. The music is excellent as well. With wonderful animations and art, cool worldbuilding, amazing voice acting, stunning character design.
