There is more to her journey than she initially understands, though. A mysterious magical power belonging to the goddess lies dormant inside Nora, and that power is gradually beginning to awaken. It could give her the chance to change her destiny, but it also attracts the attention of monsters with very different intentions.

Dungeons And Cat features large areas to explore, hidden treasures to discover, and a variety of characters to meet along the way. As the adventure progresses, more details about the kingdom, the beastkin, and the goddess’s strange power gradually come to light.

Getting defeated is where things take a darker turn. Losing a battle can leave Nora with more than a simple game-over screen. Her clothing can be torn away, her magic can be drained, and monsters from the depths of the dungeon can pull her further into danger.

The story eventually comes down to one question: can Nora stay true to her beliefs and bring pride to the beastkin, or will the dark forces beneath the dungeon determine her fate?

Gameplay and Combat

For an adult action game made with onanistic play in mind, Cat and Dungeon actually offers a fairly substantial gameplay system. There is an RPG-style progression system where defeating enemies earns experience, giving the adventure more depth than a straightforward action game.

Weapons are assigned to four action slots, each tied to a different button. These cover the basic attack, strong attack, thrown weapon, and shield. There is a surprisingly broad selection of weapons for the different slots, and each comes with its own stats and special abilities.

Weapons can also be upgraded at the blacksmith. Additional upgrade levels become available after defeating dungeon bosses in Dungeons And Cat, which means favorite weapons can continue to improve instead of becoming useless as the enemies get stronger. That makes experimenting with different equipment much more worthwhile.

The actual fighting is easy to pick up: attack, dodge, and repeat. An energy bar adds another thing to keep track of, since dashing and throwing weapons consume energy at Dungeons And Cat. It gives combat a slight Souls-like touch without making the controls overly complicated.

Overall, Cat and Dungeon mixes dungeon exploration, RPG progression, pixel-art action, and adult content into one package. The combat remains fairly straightforward, while the weapon upgrades, exploration, boss fights, and different defeat scenes give Dungeons And Cat more substance than might be expected at first glance in Dungeons And Cat.
