No pressure to reach a finish line. Just endless roads, changing landscapes, and a relaxing drive at a pace that feels right.

Slow Roads creates each world through procedural generation, so the scenery and roads keep changing as the journey continues. Valleys, forests, open fields, coastlines, and mountain routes can all become part of the trip. Location, weather, season, time of day, road type, and other settings can be adjusted before setting off.

Endless Roads and Scenic Worlds

Every drive can feel a little different because the roads and surrounding landscapes are generated as the journey unfolds. Routes can be wide or narrow, smooth or winding, paved or off-road. The generation system also uses seeds, making it possible to return to a particularly enjoyable route later.

The locations draw inspiration from real-world places, too. Take a relaxed trip through the hills of the Peak District, follow the California coastline, or leave Earth behind completely with an Off-World setting.

Weather and lighting can change the atmosphere just as easily. Clear skies, clouds, snow, different seasons, and various times of day are available, making it easy to create a drive that matches the mood.

Pick a Vehicle and Make It Your Own

Different vehicles offer different ways to enjoy the roads. A coupe works well for an easy cruise, while the hatch and sports car offer a more energetic drive. There is also a coach for a slower sightseeing trip and a bike for leaning through corners.

Vehicles can be customised beyond their appearance. Colours, wheels, number plates, engines, handling, and other settings can all be adjusted. Engines can be set up as either electric or combustion, with manual and automatic transmission options available for combustion vehicles.

Driving assists can also be changed to match the preferred style. Steering assistance, camera position, traffic behaviour, and other gameplay settings can be configured. For an even more relaxed experience, automatic steering, automatic speed control, or full autodrive can take over.

Those looking for something closer to a driving simulator can use the cockpit view along with controllers and compatible steering wheels. Force feedback is not currently supported by the engine, although support is planned for a future update. The demo can be used to check whether a particular device works correctly.

Relaxed Driving With Plenty of Options

Slow Roads keeps Slow Roads gameplay deliberately simple. Its lightweight engine is built to generate large environments in real time rather than focus on detailed crashes, stunts, or heavy simulation.

The idea is to stay on the road, take in the surroundings, and let the drive continue without constantly chasing a goal. That said, there is nothing stopping anyone from pushing the car to 300 kph or taking a rally-style route through the mountains.

The result is a driving experience that can be as calm or hands-on as preferred.
