A Remastered Take on a Classic FPS

The story-driven FPS keeps the rough-edged charm of the original while bringing its visuals, controls, maps, and overall presentation up to date.

Set in a dystopian near-future, SiN Reloaded puts players in the role of Colonel John R. Blade, a security consultant with a serious grudge against crime. His target is Doctor Elexis Sinclaire, the seductive and ruthless CEO of SinTEK Industries. After Elexis begins spreading a DNA-altering drug through the streets, Blade sets out to stop her and bring down the genetically engineered mutants created by her experiments.

The original SiN stood out for giving players an unusually interactive world. Computers could be hacked through DOS-style commands, security cameras and elevators could be used to interfere with the environment, and vehicles such as forklifts, patrol boats, and helicopters could all be controlled. Choices made along the way can also affect how the game unfolds, opening up different paths through the story.

Combat has received attention as well. SiN helped introduce features such as knocking weapons from enemies’ hands and dealing with area-specific damage from attacks, adding more variety to its firefights than many shooters of its era.

What’s Included in SiN: Reloaded

The package also contains the Wages of SiN extra mission pack. This additional campaign sends Blade after another dangerous threat: a ruthless mafia boss backed by a fresh group of deadly mutants.

Both the original game and the extra missions have been optimized with the KEX Engine, allowing them to run on modern hardware. The visual overhaul adds HD textures and models, support for resolutions of up to 4K at 144 FPS, anti-aliasing, and upgraded 2D screens and menu artwork.

The controls have been rebuilt for a more modern feel, while the user interface has also been updated. Maps throughout the game have been improved as well, with Nightdive’s established attention to detail applied to the redesigned environments.

For anyone who prefers the classic presentation, the remastered visuals can be switched back to the original SiN Gold look.

Classic SiN With a Modern Refresh

SiN: Reloaded keeps the original game’s distinctive mix of story, exploration, vehicles, interactive environments, and fast-paced shooting while giving it a substantial technical upgrade. The result is a version built for current systems without removing the features that made the 1998 shooter stand out in the first place.
