A Stylish Dark-Action Adventure

Get skills, parries, grapples, and fast-paced combat. The presentation is one of its biggest strengths, with smooth HD pixel animation and a striking visual style that gives the game plenty of personality.

The combat is easy to pick up, but there is more going on once the different abilities start being combined. Special attacks can be linked together with Snatch, a scarf-based technique that drags enemies closer, creating plenty of room for extended combo strings. Dark Techniques add another layer to the fights and make the action feel more varied than a basic beat-’em-up.

DARK HUNTER KURO also runs on fairly modest hardware, so there is no need for a powerful gaming setup to enjoy it.

Story and Characters

The story follows Tachio, an ordinary office worker who unexpectedly finds himself transported to a strange world filled with dark creatures called Yamimon.

Things get dangerous quickly when the monsters attack him. Fortunately, he is rescued by Kuro, a mysterious dark hunter known as the Red Wolf. Her red hair and distinctive appearance immediately make her stand out.

The situation becomes even stranger when Tachio comes into contact with Kuro’s special battle suit, Gear. Instead of simply fighting beside her, Tachio becomes part of the suit itself.

From there, the unlikely pair set out together. Kuro handles the fighting while Tachio serves as her Gear, and their shared goal is to find a way back to the world Tachio originally came from.

Combat, Animation, and Adult Content

DARK HUNTER KURO combines straightforward controls with stylish action and a selection of special techniques. Gear can be used to chain attacks together, while parries, grappling mechanics, skills, and stamina management add more depth to the fights.

The pixel animation is another strong point. Characters and combat moves are presented with smooth, detailed HD artwork, giving the otherwise retro-inspired platforming a more polished appearance.

There is also a substantial adult-content component. Erotic scenes are fully animated and voice-recorded, with thousands of lines of recorded dialogue included throughout DARK HUNTER KURO.

That said, the H-scenes may not be the strongest part of the package. Compared with games such as Night of Revenge, which offers a much larger 2D adult-art library, or SiNiSistar, with its wider variety of H-states, Dark Hunter Kuro feels more limited in this area.
