BakeryDiary is not a game about making bread, but an experience about understanding and judgment in a cartoon world.

BakeryDiary isn’t a bread-making game. Listen carefully to customers’ strange requests, discover many kinds of bread, and satisfy even the most picky tastes — from strawberry to chocolate, whole wheat to nuts. Understand the bread, understand your customers~ In this cozy bakery sim, you’ll serve “particular” customers (wink! You love documenting everything! Every bread’s recipe, every customer’s preferences become warm diary entries with pictures. The Secret of Bread: Filled, flaky, sweet, savory, bitter, or low-fat… every bread truly has its own unique “personality.” Customer demands are endless too… Don’t worry! Check the details of each bread carefully.
Pack it up! Some players might want a whole box of bread, so learn how to pack them (there might even be a surprise waiting for you~). Special bread combinations can earn you hidden stickers! Pay attention to the bread’s shelf life! Bread kept for the next day will be frozen and must be heated before serving~ And never serve spoiled bread to customers. Adorable Residents of the Town. As time goes by, you’ll get to know more and more of the town’s residents~ Discover customer preferences through puzzles. When you run into trouble, don’t forget to check the tutorial. There are some downfalls to BakeryDiary that could have been handled differently.
The main one is not being able to control which breads are served on any given day. By the end, there are so many that it becomes overwhelming. The only way to combat in BakeryDiary is to avoid buying every bread as it becomes available. There are also puzzles to complete and stickers to earn by making certain combinations of boxed breads as you go along, unlocking each customer’s individual story in the process. The music is relaxing without being distracting, which is a good thing when grinding away at selling bread for 17 hours (though it’s also easy to listen to your own music instead).
Guides are available to help earn all the stickers, but they are not in English. Thankfully, that’s an easy fix with Google Translate. Settings and extras include audio, language, resolution, and display options. The game does a good job of walking players through the basics. The biggest gripe is still not being able to choose which breads to serve each day. That final achievement is pretty grindy too—earning a total revenue of one million dollars.
