Where the Adventure Started

Long before smartphones became gaming devices and app stores became the norm, ZENONIA was already laying the groundwork for mobile RPGs.

Now, this classic action RPG has returned with its original identity intact, while being adapted for modern platforms.

A Classic That Still Holds Up

The original charm is still there. The familiar look, gameplay, and old-school RPG feel have been brought back without losing what made ZENONIA 1 memorable in the first place.

For longtime fans, it is an easy trip down memory lane in ZENONIA 1. For newcomers, it is a chance to see why ZENONIA 1 became such a memorable part of mobile RPG history.

Pick a Class and Build Your Character

ZENONIA gives players three different classes to choose from, each offering a distinct way to play:

  • Warrior – A sturdy and well-rounded fighter.
  • Paladin – A dependable defensive class built to take punishment.
  • Assassin – A quick and deadly option focused on speed and damage.

Character progression also gives plenty of room for customization. Stats, equipment, skills, and other upgrades can be combined to create a build that suits the preferred playstyle.

A Story Shaped by Your Choices

The story takes place in a world caught between light and darkness, with decisions playing a role throughout the adventure.

At its heart, the plot follows the familiar “chosen one destined to save the world” setup. It is straightforward enough to follow without feeling overly complicated, though the characters give it some personality. There are also plenty of sidequests, unexpected situations, and moments of humor that help break up the heavier parts of the story.

The world may be falling apart, but ZENONIA 1 does not take itself completely seriously. Some of the side content can be genuinely funny, which adds a nice bit of comic relief.

Plenty of Room to Keep Progressing

There is a lot to collect and upgrade along the way, including:

  • Hundreds of items spread across several tiers
  • Skills, equipment, stats, and character progression systems
  • Different ways to develop a character and experiment with builds

There is always another item to find, another upgrade to chase, or another level to work toward.

A Strong Dose of Nostalgia

ZENONIA has the kind of old-school charm that can bring back memories of spending hours on mobile RPGs. Alongside games such as the Inotia series, it belongs to that era of mobile gaming that could keep players occupied for surprisingly long sessions.

The gameplay of ZENONIA 1 also has a strong classic four-direction action RPG feel, similar to older Mana-style games. There is a noticeable SNES-era influence in the presentation, while the combat and progression borrow heavily from traditional hack-and-slash RPGs.

Features of ZENONIA 1:

  • The interface can also be confusing in places. For example, ZENONIA 1 warns when food is needed, but there does not seem to be an obvious way to check the character’s current hunger level. Since different food items restore different amounts of hunger, it becomes difficult to know whether an item restoring 10 hunger is enough or whether something worth 50 is needed at ZENONIA 1.
  • Achievements appear to have some issues as well. Requirements can show as completed, such as reaching 20/20, while the achievement itself still refuses to unlock or be claimed. There is also mention of an Achievement Store being unlocked, but it either is not available yet or does not currently open.
  • Despite those quirks, the core experience remains enjoyable. ZENONIA has that simple, addictive ARPG formula that makes it easy to keep playing for “just one more” quest, level, or piece of loot.
  • For fans of classic RPGs, especially those who enjoy old-school mobile games, loot-driven progression, and a bit of grinding, ZENONIA is well worth checking out. Even players who normally skip older RPGs may find something surprisingly fun here.

Minimum System Requirements:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 (64bit)
  • Processor: i3 6100
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Geforce GTX 1060
