Instead of using a “solve it layer by layer” approach like some other nonogram alternatives do (for example in Depiction the result consists of the combined colors of 3 layers stacked on top of each other, but individually solved), Voxelgram gameplay feels more like sculpting the initial cube into a final shape by marking and removing voxels based on the column/row hints. Some of these number indicators have been blanked out because of redundancy, leaving almost what’s strictly necessary to solve a level – but one thing is certain: there will be no guesses, you’ll always have enough information at hand to logically deduct which of the voxels should be removed.

Voxelgram levels are grouped by theme into a bigger scene (for example bathroom items, kitchen appliances), each of them representing a colorful object belonging to their specific room. Initially, these objects are displayed as full blocks, which are then replaced with their final shapes after the level is solved. We liked this approach because it gave context and special meaning to each of the puzzles. Building / restoring the room items to their original shape and seeing the whole picture, in the end, was quite satisfactory.
