Utawarerumono is certainly not for everyone, but connoisseurs know what they are getting into: An adventure with a visual novel narrative structure and tactical inserts. You can expect many hours of exciting story with interesting characters, gripping developments and strategic battles. Since the visual novel component predominates and the strategy role-playing aspect is not particularly profound, the title is rather less something for mere SRPG fans.

The Prelude to the Fallen is certainly ideal as an introduction, as it is the first title in the trilogy. You should also know that there are only English texts. Certainly important in such a text-heavy game. In addition, there is only Japanese voice output. The Utawarerumono series tells one of our favorite stories of all time. It’s been a long wait for this title to finally arrive on Steam, years after we were first enthralled by the anime adaptation.
