Umineko: Golden Fantasia PC Game 2017 Overview:
The tag-team fighting game based on the original “Umineko When They Cry” series, finally released on Steam, in English and with improved rollback netplay!
The rollback netcode in Golden Fantasia is vastly improved over the original Japanese release; I’ve been able to play cross-coast and cross-continent matches with hardly any issues at all. After the most recent patches, playing with friends, either in the US or abroad, has given me zero issues. The old rule of “play within your coast or don’t play at all” no longer applies in Umineko: Golden Fantasia.
If you cared about Ougon because you enjoyed its versus, Golden Fantasia’s netplay is a big enough step up to warrant the purchase. If you cared about Ougon because it’s an Umineko spinoff, the spectacle of the story and gameplay are arguably worth the plunge. George, Jessica, and Rosa from the Ushiromiya family join the fray, as this release of Golden Fantasia includes the Cross Expansion from the original Japanese version!
Features of Umineko: Golden Fantasia:
- During combat players can consume their SP Gauge and initiate their Meta World, but only if your opponent chooses to or otherwise cannot argue their truth and cancel yours!
- In Golden Fantasia, matches are tag-team fights between two pairs of characters from the Umineko series, each sharing HP building SP for each other through a unique mechanic – the touch system!
- All the lines used during combat, story mode, as well match opening and closings are fully voiced in Japanese to bring realism to your combat!
