Tomb Raider I PC Game 2012 review:
A real pleasure to dive back into the very 1st opus of Tomb Raider! Lara Croft was for me a superb but old memory pixelated in 640*480 from 20 years ago.
Adventurer Lara Croft has been hired to recover the pieces of an ancient artifact known as the Scion. With her fearless acrobatic style, she runs, jumps, swims, and climbs her way towards the truth of its origin and powers – leaving only a trail of empty tombs and gun cartridges in her wake. On this trail are breath-taking 3D worlds where exploration, puzzle, and platform elements blend in a seamless real-time environment…
Contracted under a fancy businesswoman’s greed, our archeologist and professional adventurer, Lara Croft, embarks on an exciting adventure to discover and uncover the mysteries on her journey about pieces of the artifact Scion by any means necessary, even if it leads to somebodies and casings dropping by her iconic pistols…
”Tomb Raider I” is a pixelated, adventure, and action-packed game, a mixture between acrobatics and puzzles with a pinch of violence since that’s how everything works in archeology. Being the PC version, it uses DosBox, an IBM PC emulator for the game to run on most modern computers, and supports 3Dfx, a 3D graphics processing card, unlike the console versions, it features differences between one and another both in terms of visuals and gameplay.
Pros of Tomb Raider I:
- The roots of all Tomb Raiders. One of the first and most polished fully 3D action-adventure games.
- Inspired by Indiana Jones and precursor of newer games in this genre.
- Tomb Raider set very advanced controls and amazingly fluid animations for its time that laid a standard moveset for the next games in the series.
