Tile Cities PC Game 2022 review:
A small but challenging and delicate puzzle, some good ideas with quite “tricky” challenges. That’s my personal first impression after just a few minutes of play.
Tile Cities breaks city building down to its very basics making it more of a simple puzzle. Compose nice-looking city maps of randomly generated city blocks (tiles), match colored buildings and parks to meet demand, and connect tram lines with depots to get bonuses. Creative mode with no limitations is also available. In this mode, you can regenerate random tiles until you get the ones you like.
A nice minimalistic game that scratches the right itch for those of us who enjoy puzzles and city builders. Gameplay is satisfying and relaxing, which is a nice feat one wouldn’t expect from the kind of problems the game encourages you to solve. This game basically runs on a potato, and its visual aspect is very bare-bones, contributing to the minimalistic feel. I wouldn’t be too picky about this, though, and considering the circumstances surrounding it, why not just be thankful this game exists and support the developer buying it? For what it offers, the price is more than fair.
Pros of Tile Cities:
- Great casual/puzzle time waster.
- An interesting mix of Tetris with some city builder elements, and resource types.
- Also kudos to the dev for making this under the conditions they are in.
