This is a fantasy city-builder where you start off as an insignificant colony and build, scheme, and fight your way towards a metropolis and empire. The mechanics are complex and true to life, where small events can spiral into the collapse of kingdoms. Easy to learn, but impossible to master. It’s set in a low-fantasy world with graphics aimed at stimulating your imagination.
It’s got a very interesting concept that draws you in. The grand economical simulation based on supply/demand, along with the ability to engage in wars with thousands of citizens/soldiers total war-Esque is cool indeed. It is a lovely mixture of Dwarf Fortress, Rimworld, and the Total War series. In the game, you’ll be balancing your food production with rapid expansion, building amenities, roads, torches, apartments, and toilets at key parts of your settlement to maximize happiness (which is key in attracting more immigrants). From here you’ll be deciding whether you provide canteens to streamline meal times (which requires clay/coal) or pursuing knowledge and tool making as a way of maximizing your current output. The production-based gameplay is accessible but challenging to master as you balance your aspirations to reach higher tech-tiers with the need to keep your population fed.
