Ship Handling Simulator PC Game 2023 review:
Simulated maneuvering and mooring using tugboats. Feel in command of a battleship, cruise ship, cargo ship, passenger ship, or aircraft carrier.
Original simulator of ship-handling, maneuvering and mooring to a pier with tugboats. Fun for the shipbuff / simulator enthusiast. Physics needs improvement, many aspects of the ships dynamics are missing such as stern swingout after hard over rudder maneuvers that would normally require a rudder command to the opposite direction to eliminate & ships seem to answer the helm/rudder too quickly.
Would like to be able to disconnect and reconnect tugs if required – cast off my tugs too early during one maneuver and was forced to try to swing the ship around using only differential thrust and what little authority the rudder had when recalling a tug would have made life far easier.
Pros of Ship Handling Simulator:
- Realistic control of large cruise liners, old passenger ships, cargo ships, warships, including aircraft carrier.
- Single and multi-screw vessels with separate propeller control (including historic ships – Titanic, Britannic, Olympic, Aquitania, Carpathia and Mauretania) or azimuth propulsion.
- Maneuvering with thrusters. Mooring the vessel to the berth using two tugboats with separate control. Departure from ports to target area. Narrow-swimming, bypass of hazards, icebergs, passing with other AI vessels.
- Different environment and weather conditions. Sea marks of hazards and channels. Damage, split in half and sinking of ships at collisions. A large number of levels with a gradual increase in difficulty.
