Survive the Wasteland of Zalesye

Abandoned buildings, forgotten bunkers, dangerous jobs, and valuable scraps all become part of the daily struggle.

Players take on the role of a Vulture, a scavenger making a living from the remains of the old world. The region is packed with hostile survivors, mutants, radiation, and the deadly Mist, so every trip into the wastes comes with plenty of risk.

Zalesye was devastated by war and the arrival of the mysterious Mist. What remains is a harsh land where preparation matters. Ammunition can run low, weapons may jam at the worst possible moment, and radiation can turn a promising expedition into a disaster. Bringing useful loot home is never guaranteed.

Factions, Quests, and Reputation

Survival isn’t only about finding better weapons. Zalesye is filled with settlements, traders, scavengers, survivors, and competing factions, all trying to deal with the world they’ve been left with.

Meeting these people opens up quests, jobs, and new opportunities. Relationships also matter. The choices made along the way affect reputation, changing how different groups respond and which options become available later.

Some factions are focused on rebuilding what was lost, while others are simply doing whatever they can to make it through another day. Choosing who to help can shape the experience just as much as the gear carried into the field.

Explore the Surface and Underground

The world of Scavland offers a handcrafted open environment filled with abandoned buildings, dangerous woodland, irradiated swamps, hidden areas, mutants, bandits, and other traces of the civilization that came before.

There is plenty to discover above ground, but the surface only tells part of the story.

Hidden entrances lead into underground bunkers and other hazardous locations. These areas use procedural layouts, giving different spaces a changing feel throughout a playthrough. Heading away from familiar roads and settlements increases the danger, but it can also lead to much more valuable rewards.

Weapon customization adds another layer to exploration. Firearms and attachments can be collected across the world, then modified to suit different situations. Components can be swapped around and various configurations tested, making it possible to build a setup that matches a preferred way of playing.

The loadout matters just as much as the weapon itself. A trip into an unfamiliar area calls for different preparation than a quick scavenging run, especially when the potential losses are high.

Work, Trade, and Uncover the Mist

Traders provide weapons, equipment, attachments, supplies, and other useful goods, but getting access to their better stock takes some work. Completing jobs and requests gradually improves reputation and can unlock additional items and opportunities.

That creates a satisfying gameplay loop at Scavland: prepare for an expedition, head into the wastes, search for supplies, survive the dangers, return with whatever was recovered, improve the equipment, and then venture farther.

There is also a much bigger mystery waiting underneath the survival mechanics.

Features of Scavland:

  • The Vulture survived being almost killed by mysterious soldiers who supposedly came from a distant land untouched by the Mist. Naturally, that raises some serious questions in Scavland.
  • People in Zalesye talk about the East as a kind of promised land beyond the RO-29 Highway.
  • According to the stories, the region remains free from the Mist and the horrors spreading across the Continent at Scavland. Whether those rumors are actually true remains unknown.
  • Exploring Zalesye, helping its inhabitants, following their stories, and piecing together what happened gradually brings the truth closer. The biggest questions remain: what exactly is the Mist, and why did the Vulture survive an attack that should have been fatal?
