Prison Simulator PC Game 2021 review:
And again a new (job) simulator: This time we are prison guards. Each game day consists of 3 main tasks and there are two free time activities in between.
(v20230716 Update added)
Attendance counting: With a click, you go down the cellblock and count the prisoners. New admissions or prisoners released: Here you have to check the release papers, search the prisoners and their personal belongings and give them their package on their way to freedom. Later on, you can use a special skill to accurately compare fingerprints.
Workplace: Here you can accompany up to 10 prisoners into the work area. This is very detailed because you have to put the group together, guide them along the way, give them tools at work and then take care of them for a few minutes. Exit: Now the prisoners have free time and we take them outside. There we have to look very carefully at what they are doing because there are often fights. The longer we leave them outside, the more respect we get from them.
Cell control: a sure instinct is required here. We search the cells and have to decide what to do if we find suspicious items. If we find the drugs or something else, we can always decide whether to make ourselves popular with the colleagues by reporting the item, or we collect points from the prisoners and let them keep their stuff. Or do we pocket it for ourselves? No, we don’t … Monitoring on security cameras: We monitor the cameras on different monitors and can change the view at any time. As soon as we see something suspicious, we have to issue orders as to which guard should be used to end a brawl.

This game is more complicated than ACTUALLY working in a prison.
I was a Corrections Officer on the Estelle and Ellis units in Texas for a few years until I became a policeman in Houston. The “Cell Count” is fairly accurate. The “Cell Search” is also.
But NO WAY do we process new inmates in and out every day. They come in buses of 40+ and a TEAM of COs do intake and out-processing. Each of us has a single function like a factory assembly line. That way, only 1 person is responsible for each step and we do that repeated step to perfection.
I notice that they didn’t include the “Outer Picket/Gun Tower” role. That’s where we sit in a 60-80′ tower outside of the fences with a revolver, rifle and shotgun; each weapon dependent upon the range and accuracy needed. (Shotgun for close in near the fence, rifle for precision shots further away, and the revolver for self-defense and last ditch.)
