The twist is that the tower is actually the hero, who stays in one spot while waves of monsters charge down the lanes. Spells activate automatically in Pixel Survivors: Defense, so success depends on choosing the right abilities, collecting useful items, and putting together a build that can hold the line. With up to 40 waves of enemies, elite monsters, and bosses, each run puts your setup to the test.

Build Your Defenses One Wave at a Time

Every level-up gives you a chance to choose new spells or improve existing ones. Between waves, gold can be spent in the shop to strengthen your setup at Pixel Survivors: Defense. There are 18 spells to choose from, with room for five at a time, and once wave 21 arrives, spells can evolve into much stronger versions.

The item selection is just as interesting, with more than 200 options to experiment with. Some offer powerful benefits but come with drawbacks, so picking the right combination matters. A balanced build is especially important when dealing with large groups of weaker enemies and tougher bosses that demand focused damage.

Tougher Enemies and Plenty of Challenges

The monsters don’t stay easy for long. Elites introduce special abilities, eight bosses stand between you and victory, and certain maps send enemies approaching from multiple directions. For an extra challenge, Monsters’ Ascension gives enemies a new item with every wave, making each encounter harder to manage.

There is also plenty to work toward outside individual runs. The game features 10 heroes, each with a unique weapon and passive ability, alongside five difficulty settings, Endless mode, permanent upgrades, achievements, and a codex that records discovered content.
