Although it is named Metal Gear Survival, there are almost not many elements of the original Metal Gear, and the story of the main story The Phantom Pain is involved to some extent.
METAL GEAR SURVIVE builds upon METAL GEAR SOLID V’S enduring stealth action gameplay while introducing the new elements of exploration and survival to create a bold new experience. METAL GEAR SURVIVE is a spin-off from the main METAL GEAR SOLID V story that takes place in a strange alternative universe.
Strange but in a good way, Metal Gear: Survive was a unique experience. Throughout the entire main campaign, you have one single goal. Escape, and to do so you must defend a location. Unfortunately, that’s every mission. when you’re not collecting food, gathering a small number of resources to build an item, or saving another survivor, you’re just defending a new wormhole teleporter, an old one, or a machine that gives you resources. Despite that, the game still makes these missions very intense. The balancing in these missions could use some work especially since the main world you play in is single-player only.
Pros of METAL GEAR SURVIVE:
- Create your character and learn to survive. Scavenge resources, craft weapons, build a base camp and explore the unknown while developing the survival skills necessary in this hostile environment.
- In CO-OP mode, assemble a team of four players to infiltrate and defend areas from hordes of creatures.
- Place fortifications and defensive weapons strategically to give you an advantage against ever-intensifying enemies.
- Teamwork and resourcefulness are key in these fast-paced co-op missions.
