lovebyte.exe is inspired by Mystic Messenger, VTuber culture, & the chaotic side of internet spam; it puts a dating sim inside a world of livestreams.

Also Discord chats, rumors, and online fandom. One day, your kamioshi’s stream suddenly cuts out. Then the silence starts. Rumors spread everywhere, and the online toxicity quickly becomes overwhelming. Looking for somewhere else to hang out, you join a chaotic group chat where VTuber fans can talk openly about their oshis. But something feels off. A few strange coincidences start to pile up. Could your kamioshi actually be hiding somewhere inside the chat? In this chat-based dating sim, the big question is simple: who is genuine, and who is putting on an act? There are six romanceable characters to get to know, with their real-world identities gradually becoming part of the mystery.
One of the more enjoyable parts is how much lovebyte.exe changes depending on the decisions made along the way. There does not seem to be one obvious “bad” choice that ruins everything, which makes it easier to play without feeling forced to chase a particular character from the start. The replay value also works surprisingly well. Going back for different routes does not feel like a complete chore because there are extra memes, delulu moments, and interactions with the side characters to discover along the way.
The romanceable cast is one of the strongest parts of lovebyte.exe. There are characters of both genders, and each has a distinct personality that comes through surprisingly well in a chat-based format. They are fun to spend time with, and the characters generally feel like actual people rather than just dialogue options waiting for the next romance scene. Pochima stands out in particular and feels especially well written. That said, some characters could use more depth and background information. Since the game is still in Early Access, there is plenty of room for the developers to expand their stories, add more personal details, and give the cast additional moments outside the main routes.
What is already here feels like a solid start, especially considering the reasonable price and the amount of replay value available. The biggest issue comes from how quickly the romance routes lock in. There is not much time to properly experience each potential partner before lovebyte.exe expects a decision. If there is no clear favorite going into lovebyte.exe, it can be difficult to figure out who to pursue without wasting a run or accidentally reaching a fail state. Having roughly one day of chat to make that decision feels particularly restrictive.

Features of lovebyte.exe:
- 🔎 Internet-themed minigames involving fake surveys, suspicious downloads, and questionable emails. Spot the scams, earn money, and use it to support the kamioshi.
- 🔁 Multiple endings and romance routes where choices affect what happens and eventually reveal who the romanceable characters really are.
- 🎨 Customizable profiles and desktop so the in-game Discord setup can match the preferred style.
- 📸 Delulu and parasocial content with unlockable CGs spread across streams, Discord chats, and other online spaces.
- 🎙️ Voice-acted scenes featuring real VTubers, including Roy Chiato, Banzoin Hakka, RiiKami, Kaine Knight, Bluebell, and rachie.
- The choice system can also be unforgiving. Getting the character wanted often requires making very specific decisions, with little room for mistakes. A handful of wrong answers can completely derail a route, which makes lovebyte.exe feel like it almost requires a guide for players who want a particular ending. That is a shame because the characters themselves are enjoyable enough that more freedom would make the routes even better.
