King of the Hat PC Game 2022 review:
A very fun casual game that you can enjoy both with friends or also play the modes that it includes to play alone, it has very simple mechanics but offers many hours of fun.
King of the Hat is a 2-4 player 2D party platformer where you fight with a hat! Throw your hat to attack, defend and bait opponents. But watch out! If someone jumps on your hat… you die!
The game at first glance has a very intuitive menu that’s easy to navigate, if you’ve played smash the menu is pretty similar, but the gameplay is anything but smash, it’s very volatile with how fast-paced fights can get, but it handles that pacing really well with its defensive mechanic of hats clanking together. The game itself can feel a little over-defensive at times, but once you get an idea of how your character works, there’s a ton of counterplay.
Every character brings something new to the table which keeps matches interesting, all while keeping the same idea intact which brings a variety of gameplay every time you play. There’s a bunch of tech/advanced movement lots of characters can do if you want to play competitively and it makes the matches even more volatile. This can even be further expanded using the games items or special modes if you decide to mess around with those.
Pros of King of the Hat:
- In King of the Hat, your hat contains your soul. Crush your opponent’s hats (and souls) to assert your dominance over them.
- When you throw your hat, it goes on fire and becomes invulnerable. You can use it to beat the devil out of other players or to defend against your opponents’ flaming hats.
- Although the basic mechanics are easy to pick up and play, King of the Hat allows for deep, hat-tastic competitive play as a 2 player game.
- Change the rules, add power ups and play around level hazards to create the hat-based madness you’ve always dreamed of.
