The storyline follows Mei who has embarked on an interstellar journey aboard a spaceship named Mother Structure. Mei is a Girl Scout and belongs to a space program.
After a thousand years of sleep, Jao, the space program supervisor, first deploys Mei’s scout unit “to an ocean planet [in order to] find sanctuary and prevent the extinction of their species. ” Mei and his co-pilot Isao are brought to roam this planet in order to elucidate the mystery of the Hymnwave, a “stellar invitation” which prompted their people to explore these shores.
JETT: The Far Shore is an adventure game that focuses on exploring a fictional world. The player controls and steers Mei’s ship which flies over the landscapes of a watery planet. The game takes place in an open world. In a blog post on the PlayStation Blog site, one of the co-creators Craig D. Adams reveals some aspects of the creation of JETT: The Far Shore. The project was first conceived by Craig D. Adams of Superbrothers (in) and Patrick Allister Pine Scented (both creative directors ), which focus on the development of a concept and a design for the game.
Indeed, the two co-directors consider what “type of video game [they would like] to offer to the world”. Also, the project actually takes shape when Scntfc (en), the scene name of Andrew Rohrmann, composes the soundtrack and music for the Game. Later, the co-directors recruited several people to perfect the development of JETT: The Far Shore.
