It’s good that almost everything in the game comes with subtitles to explain what it’s for. The story exists like we can’t call it interesting, but Punch Club doesn’t have an interesting story either and it’s a good game.

Gods of Sand is a gladiator manager with turn-based combat, heavily inspired by the Swords and Sandals series, but in a darker and unforgiving setting. Besides fighting in multiple arenas, micromanaging your Ludus and gladiators is an important part of the game.

Storytime: we stuck with our first gladiator and kept training him, even purchasing him the best equipment we could afford, he was like a son to us. Our bond grew stronger as we overcame all obstacles that this unforgiving world threw at us. In the end, our gladiator son became famous and caught the eye of a rich Sultan who wanted to purchase him off of us for lots of money, but we declined.

Our gladiator son looked at us with glistening eyes, as if we were the father he always wanted, and together we yelled a battle cry as the Sultan left, defeated. We would continue to live our days happily, we even adopted more gladiators who would complete missions and earn us much-needed money. Life was good.

Pros of Gods of Sand:

Restore the glory of your Ludus: To run a Ludus (a gladiator school) you must always pay attention to the economics of your business. Fight to get money and prizes, train your gladiators enough to maintain a solid income, and restore the old and abandoned Ludus your family left you.
Challenge the Champions of the Arenas: Multiple items and weapons are allowed inside combat, but knowing the best time to use your gear is key if you want to be the champion of the arenas.
Fight your own way:
Any skill, armor, or weapon is usable by any gladiator, generating lots of possibilities when it comes to creating new builds.
