We are the Entity Investigation & Research Institute. You just got hired by EIRI; researching and battling the Visitors, unknown entities that have invaded our world. A dark sci-fi dungeon-crawling RPG with themes of exploration and survival. Battle: Destroy entities to gain XP, currency, and items. Explore: Investigate procedurally generated maps for entities and items. Research: Discover more about the entities. Refine: Craft/purchase/discover new items to improve your loadout. Advance: Defeat bosses to receive high rarity rewards. Very enjoyable RPG with a good amount of depth, but it’s pretty easy to get into. Very creatively designed and the music is great. Combat is fun and timing-based, and it can be tough too. Mixing and matching items are a blast and encourage getting as much loot as possible.
An eldritch blend of Shadow Hearts’ battle mechanics (good if you like some reflex-based variation in your JRPG mechanics, bad if you want to relax), Shin Megami Tensei’s elemental monsters and move naming style, and Neon Genesis Evangelion’s aesthetics as filtered through a slightly smoking CRT monitor, with a mood and setting reminiscent of all three franchises.
