Due to global warming, the Arctic ice is melting and causing the Siberian coastline to become a major shipping route.

The Northern Sea Route (NSR) allows ships to travel from Shanghai to Copenhagen in only one-third of the previous distance, bypassing congested areas like the Suez Canal and the Strait of Gibraltar. This newly accessible region, which many in the West disregard, is seen by the Russian President and Ministry of Defense as an opportunity to restore national pride. Leading the fleet is the Polar Star, an icebreaker capable of plowing through thick sea ice. Accompanying the Polar Star are allied surface action groups including Zumwalt and Arleigh Burke Destroyers, as well as Harry DeWolf patrol ships, and more.

Although there isn’t an aircraft carrier in the fleet, you will receive support from Air Force units stationed in Alaska. Information is crucial, especially with Russian satellites monitoring the region. Controlling the flow of information is vital, and the US Cyber Command (CYBERCOM) has prepared an attack package called “Widowmaker” to address the Russian satellite threat.
