Ein, a member of a human expedition sent to distant planets, is a simple-hearted individual who finds himself drawn to a beautiful but aloof co-worker.
However, his attempts at romance are complicated when he realizes he is not the only one vying for her attention. From the desolate alien ruins, a message in human language reaches the girl, further entangling their situation. In a future where human lives are deemed too valuable to risk in deep space exploration, a race of artificial servants called Artifites inhabits an alien and inhospitable planet beneath the expansive canopy of the “Ailanthus” space garden. Ein, a young Artifite explorer, is plagued by a mysterious longing.
He is uncertain about the beginning of the expedition and why it has yet to achieve its objective. However, he is certain that, since they are stranded, he should find a companion, and he has a particular girl in mind. Though they frequently encounter each other in the wardroom and share meals with the entire crew, Ein faces three challenges. Firstly, the girl is as distant and unapproachable as the vast expanse of space. Secondly, she is fixated on exploring the abandoned alien ruins concealed beneath the planet’s cloud cover.
