Without further ado and a lot of talks you are thrown onto the map and have to watch how you find your way around. This is precisely why the learning curve in this turn-based strategy title is incredibly steep.
You start with a handful of residents, a few huts, and only a few visible tiles. Now it is time to explore the country and look for raw materials. At the same time, you have to ensure that the village grows into a metropolis. In doing so, however, one must never neglect the needs of the citizens. Growing too quickly can run out of food or increase crime, which leads to a decrease in instability. It’s not that easy, because you only have one action per round and sometimes you would like to do 3 or 4. If the stability drops below 0, revolts occur and the game over is not far off. So you should always keep an eye on them and use your one available action carefully and every single round.
The game overtakes you anyway faster than you would like. Personally, I never got past lap 150. Here a people who are starving to death, there are far too many elves who overrun you, and a zombie army at the gates. The game shows you often and sometimes very quickly who is wearing the pants in Burned Land.
